First PVHS Female State Champion (Oxy-Acetylene Welding, SkillsUSA)

Last year, Shelby Tozier from Pleasant Valley High School achieved 5th place in Oxy-Acetylene welding at SkillsUSA as a Junior. This year however, she took home the gold! Shelby is the first female gold medal winner from PVHS in this competition.

As well as the welding itself, each student is required to read and apply concepts from a Welding Procedure Specification (WPS), submit a professional resume, and complete a written test. Students must master these subjects in order to qualify for, and place well in, the state competitions.

Congratulations Shelby! Good luck at the national competition!
