Manufacturing Expo, Nov. 10 in Chico

Meet Northern California Manufacturers and Suppliers

WHAT: SME North State Manufacturing Expo
WHERE: CSU, Chico’s Bell Memorial Union (BMU)
WHEN: Thursday, November 10, 2016, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Once again, manufacturers and suppliers from Northern California will showcase their technology and products in Chico on Thursday, November 10, 2016. The 3rd Annual SME Manufacturing Expo will focus on educational and career opportunities for students and job seekers.

Last year, over 2,000 people – including many students from sixth grade through college – attended the Expo to learn more about manufacturing and the products being produced here in the North State. Many of last year’s exhibitors are returning this year with hands-on equipment and displays, such as the jet engine from Air Spay USA!

Career Exploration

While the Expo is not a job fair, each manufacturer displays a “Job Board” listing typical occupations employed by that company and the education required for each occupation. For older students, it’s an opportunity to meet potential employers face to face and learn more about the companies.

For the second year, a series of 30-minute “Intro Classes” will be offered; providing job seekers, middle school, high school and college-level students a taste of different skills needed for manufacturing careers. Held throughout the day on a first come, first serve basis (optional pre-registration online at www.northstatemfgexpo.com), some of the topics include: Makerspace in the North State; Inventing your Technical Future; Automation & Robotics; and Future Farm to Table.

A number of schools have pre-registered for concurrent tour of the CSU, Chico engineering and STEM labs, which will be led by Chico State and Butte College engineering students.
