The State Employment Training Panel (ETP)
The Employment Training Panel (ETP) is a business and labor supported state agency that assists employers in strengthening their competitive edge by providing funds to off-set the costs of job skills training necessary to maintain high-performance workplaces. The program serves as the State’s premier economic development tool, encouraging many companies to locate or expand in California with the assistance of ETP’s job training funds.
ETP works in partnership with manufacturers to fund employer-driven training programs for new and existing California workers. Using ETP funding, manufacturers can select their own training topics and delivery methods. Further, ETP-funded training may be delivered using any combination of internal or external training provider. While ETP is actively developing new contracts for large and small California manufacturers, ETP is also working closely with community college districts, university foundations, industry and trade associations and state and local workforce investment boards to provide training funds in support of advanced manufacturing in California. Currently, ETP can provide up to $1,500,000 per contract for manufacturers training both existing and newly hired California workers.
