Sustainability Webinar October 21
Creating an Effective Environmental Preferable Purchasing Policy
Date and Time:
October 21, 2014 from 2:00-3:00p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)
Mark Buckley-VP of Environmental Affairs, Staples, Inc.
About the Webinar:
Learn how to set up an effective Environmental Preferable Purchasing (EPP) policy that matches your organization’s values and strategic goals. An EPP is a policy that guides employees on what is preferred when making purchasing decisions, such as buying material, furniture, office supplies or equipment, etc.
While using Life Cycle Costing, a comparative analyses tool, employees can evaluate the environmental and social aspects of a product before making a purchasing decision. Many companies evaluate whether equipment is certified, such as EPEAT or RoHS, or paper that is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council or Sustainable Forest Initiative, or just using a local caterer within a 20-mile radius.
This webinar will give you tips on designing a functional EPP policy that you can put into place right away. Participants will benefit from the following:
- How to clearly identify your organization’s values
- Designing criteria that match those values
- Creating a budget
- Training employees and then distributing the policy
- Working with vendors to find solutions
- Communicating how to track and measure results
- Communicating progress to the workforce
The webinar is appropriate for any professional who is in charge of purchasing decisions.
